Meet Dr Thomas White (Chiropractor)
“I love helping people understand how everything in the human body is connected.”
Growing up as one of six children in country Victoria taught Dr Tom a thing or two about family life. Being a triplet added another dimension entirely.
Home was busy, rarely quiet and with two siblings the same age, we had our fair share of rivalry along the way. Dr Tom will also happily point out that he’s the oldest of the triplets!
Originally from Warrnambool along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, Dr Tom grew up with a strong appreciation for family, teamwork and community. Family remains number one on his list of priorities today!
After living and working in communities across Australia, Dr Tom and his fiancée, Milly, now call the Gold Coast home. He particularly enjoys living in Helensvale, where he can practise in the same community where he shops, socialises and goes about everyday life.
For him, it’s not just about working in a community. It’s about being part of it.
A Curiosity That Started Young
Dr Tom knew from a young age that he wanted to become a chiropractor. Growing up, he was heavily involved in running and later triathlons became one of his favourite sporting activities. His own personal experiences with chiropractic care sparked a curiosity in him that wouldn’t go away and he knew he had to learn more. More than a decade later, that curiosity still shapes the way he practises.
He completed five years of study at RMIT University in Melbourne, earning a Bachelor of Health Science followed by a Master of Clinical Chiropractic, graduating in 2015.
Dr Tom initially established a small practice in his hometown before setting off on a working holiday as a locum chiropractor. His travels took him through Central Queensland, Cairns and the Northern Territory. This created incredible opportunities to work with different health professionals and broaden his experience living in different communities.
Getting to Know the Person First
Dr Tom is known for his ability to listen to what his patients are telling him. He focuses on the whole person, not just the symptoms they are presenting with. Down-to-earth and easy to talk to, he explains his findings in straightforward language and enjoys having questions fired at him.
“I like people to understand what I’m seeing and why. I don’t expect someone to just take my word for it.”
It’s that warm, easygoing manner that makes Dr Tom such a perfect fit for our Family Health Professionals Helensvale team.
Life Beyond the Practice
After years of travelling, Dr Tom is enjoying putting down roots on the Gold Coast with Milly and their two Golden Retrievers, Noah and Paddy.
When Dr Tom isn’t taking care of his patients, he is rarely sitting still. Running, swimming and endurance sports remain part of his life. More recently he is enjoying he and Milly’s new found love of golf at some of the Gold Coast’s beautiful courses. He also enjoys jet skiing, camping, the beach, travelling and exploring new places with Milly.
From growing up in a family of eight in Warrnambool to building a new life on the Gold Coast, family and community life continue to shape what feels like home.
Right now, Dr Tom is excited to be here and is looking forward to the opportunity to serve you.
