Your First Visit to Our Southport Practice

You will be warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. Help is on its way!

On your arrival at the office you will receive a warm welcome from my staff. You will be required to complete some relevant information about your health and history in order to assist me during this initial examination. This is a great opportunity to raise any concerns about how you have been feeling.

I call this visit our fact finding session. I will discuss your areas of concern with you and follow up with a physical examination. This is a completely non-invasive examination that allows me to make decisions about underlying causes for your pain or concerns. During this visit I perform various tests that are all completely safe and prove very useful to helping you see for yourself what is happening in your body.

Depending on my findings during this examination it is often necessary to take x-rays of your spine. I am fully qualified to take full spine x-rays and I have x-ray facilities at my office. I will provide you with a gown to change into for examination and x-ray purposes.

I have a strong philosophy about the importance of knowing precisely what I am dealing with before I progress any further with your care. This examination together with spinal x-rays allows me to make an informed decision about the course of treatment, the type of techniques most appropriate and how chiropractic will be able to benefit your health.

I take your time as seriously as my own and so am very careful to run as close to time as possible. Naturally circumstances arise where I need to spend longer with certain people but ordinarily both my staff and I are very particular about keeping your waiting time to a minimum. You can expect this first examination to take approximately ½ to ¾ hour.

Dr Hennessy Asks some important questions of interest to Southport residents - Chiropractor Southport Dr Hennessy Asks...

Will chiropractic adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are fixated and "locked up" receive attention. The occasional spinal joint that moves too much is passed over so weakened muscles and ligaments can strengthen and heal.
Do chiropractors prescribe medications for the pain?
No. Chiropractic is a drug-free approach to better health. Instead, we rely on natural methods. We can show you how to use ice to control pain. When properly applied, ice can have an analgesic effect without the unwanted and sometimes dangerous effects of pain medications.
