Introducing Southport Chiropractor Luke Hennessey

The Gold Coast Chiropractor

When I first decided to become a chiropractor, 20 years ago, I don’t think I realised how my choice would intertwine with my own life. In 1993 I married Theresa the daughter and sister of three chiropractors. During our honeymoon and just prior to commencing my Masters degree I was bitten by a white tail spider. Faced with an ulcer covering both legs from thighs to ankles, taking drugs that were proving fairly ineffective I was challenged by my chiropractor. He said to me “Luke, this is killing you. It is time you learned to trust that the power that made the body can also heal the body.”

My understanding of Chiropractic very quickly took on a whole new meaning. A spider bite that is known for its venomous poison to cripple and even kill people became just one small part of my story today. I speak more about this on our video, click here to view.

Being one of five children myself, Theresa and I decided we would also like a large family. Our dreams seemed less and less attainable through our struggle to hold a successful pregnancy. This led me to explore chiropractic on a deeper level and to what would eventually lead me to assist not only other women to carry successful pregnancies but also assist many women during difficult hormonal changes in their life and all with a completely natural and safe approach.

In fact much of what I have learned and experienced through being a chiropractor has come from my own personal family life. In early 2001 Theresa and I adopted our first child, Emma and two years later we adopted John, both of whom are South Korean born. By the time John was twenty months of age we realised that things were not quite right. Many developmental milestones had not been reached and further investigation led to a diagnosis of autism by the time John had reached 30 months.

Again my years of training and experience were being challenged as I applied this knowledge to my own struggling son.

I am a passionate man. I am passionate about family, sport, health, home-brewing, boating and life. I love doing what I do and seeing the results of a powerful gift and skill that I have been blessed with. My biggest reward in doing what I love is helping others to learn about their body and how to become and stay well.

By the way, Theresa and I eventually succeeded at our own pregnancies which resulted in another two beautiful children, Olivia and Isabelle.

I hope this has helped you have some understanding of who I am and what I am about and that I will have the opportunity of meeting and caring for you and your loved ones. Give our Southport office a call today.

Dr Hennessy Asks some important questions of interest to Southport residents - Chiropractor Southport Dr Hennessy Asks...

Will chiropractic adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are fixated and "locked up" receive attention. The occasional spinal joint that moves too much is passed over so weakened muscles and ligaments can strengthen and heal.
Do chiropractors prescribe medications for the pain?
No. Chiropractic is a drug-free approach to better health. Instead, we rely on natural methods. We can show you how to use ice to control pain. When properly applied, ice can have an analgesic effect without the unwanted and sometimes dangerous effects of pain medications.
